Quick Installation Guide for X3D" Viewing Systems

Congratulations on your purchase of the eXtreme 3D Viewing System.
Imagine objects literally jumping off your computer screen, creating an
unforgettable, immersive experience previously unavailable to PC users.
New advances in computer technology and affordable hardware bring true
stereoscopic "eXtreme" 3D to your PC. The X3D technology lets you play
3D games and view CD-ROMs, DVDs and web content in realistic
"eXtreme" 3D.

Advisory: Under normal operating conditions, the X3D Viewing System is perfectly safe to use for
any duration you would normally view your PC monitor. However, some people may experience
discomfort that could signal problems with the hardware, software andlor a physical problem with your
visual system. Discontinue use of the X3D Viewing System and consult a physician if you experience
any of the following: headache, eyestrain, blurry vision, double vision, involuntary movements, eye or
muscle twitching, confusion, loss of awareness of your surroundings, dizziness or disorientation. *

*To minimize the potential of any of the above symptoms, adjust your PC monitor refresh rate to the
highest possible setting. See "Adjusting Your Display Settings" on page 2 of the "X3D Viewing
System User Guide".

Epilepsy Caution: If you or any member of your family has a history of epilepsy, consult a physician
before using this product or any other computer game product.

HARDWARE INSTALLATION

Before you install the hardware, make sure that your computer meets the following
requirements for the X3D Viewing System: a PC with a CRT monitor and Windows
98/2000/ME/XP, an18x CD-ROM drive or 40 MB available space on your hard drive.
(Windows 95 and NT will work for non-gaming 3D viewing).

To check your system for these requirements, right-click on the "My Computer" icon on
your desktop. Choose "Properties" and then "System".

*Any X3D Viewing System can be used for 3D Gaming, provided your system meets

3D Gaming requirements and 3D Drivers are installed. Please see "3D Gaming with
the X3D Viewing System" included in this User Guide for more information.

STEP 1

Shut down your computer and the power to the monitor.

STEP 2

On the back of your computer, locate where the monitor is connected and gently
disconnect the cable.

STEP 3

SOFTWARE INSTALLATION

The X3D Installation CD-ROM includes the following software:

1. X3D Controller - software used to operate the X3D Viewing System and
to display various 3D formats.

2. NVIDIA, Detonator Driver* - enhances the performance of the NVIDIA
based graphics card.

3. NVIDIA, Stereo Driver* - enables the stereo properties of your NVIDIA
graphics card.

* Other "Gateway" software for 2D to 3D conversion may also be included on your install disk.
* NVIDIA Stereo Drivers are primarily for 3D Gaming. Please see 3D Gaming Guide for more
information.

INSTALLING THE X3D SOFTWARE
STEP 1

Make sure your glasses are connected.

STEP 2

Check to see that you are connected to the Internet. (This is optional, in case you wish
to download a supplemental driver such as Microsoft Direct X).

STEP 3

Note: Windows 2000 and XP may require special administrator privileges to install
software applications.

Insert the CD into your CD-ROM player. The installer should start automatically but
can also be launched manually.

To launch manually:
1. Double-click on "My Computer"
2. Double-click on your CD-ROM drive (often D: or E:)
3. Double-click on "setup.exe"

STEP 4

Follow the step-by-step instructions provided by the installer. *

your antivirus software. If your antivirus software is already disabled at this point in the installation, you may
ignore this prompt.

STEP 5

Read the "X3D Viewing System User Guide" included in the next section for information
about using your X3D Viewing System and for help with troubleshooting.

Instructions for the X3D Gateway PC or Adobe plug-ins are provided in separate help
files that are downloaded upon their installation.

on our website at www.3dworld.com/about/custsupp.asp and read our FAQ page or

ACTIVATING WIRELESS X3D GLASSES

Note: If the glasses fit improperly, they can be adjusted by pulling out the temples and
replacing them with the shorter set included with the hardware.

The wireless glasses receive power from a small battery**. They are activated using
the "On" button located on the inside bridge between the left and right lenses.

Note: Some X3D glasses DO NOT have an "on" button. Instead they activate
automatically when the temple frames are opened. These glasses shut off when the
frames are closed or when no wireless infrared transmission is detected. To conserve
battery power, always refold and close the temple frames when the glasses are not in
use.

To turn on the wireless glasses:
1. Activte the X3D controller by clicking on the icon in the System Tray
(near your system clock) to display the shortcut menu; then choose one of
the following:
If page-flip mode is selected in the shortcut menu, choose "On". If
interleaved mode is selected, choose either "On Normal" or "On Reverse".
For more information about these modes, see page 1 of the "X3D Viewing
System User Guide".

2. Hold the glasses directly in front of the transmitter and press the "On"
button (or open the temples if no button exists). When the lenses start
flickering, the glasses are activated.

In order for the wireless glasses to work, there cannot be any obstruction
between the glasses and the wireless transmitter on your monitor.

If the glasses do not see the signal for a period of time, they will shut off to
preserve the battery. You can re-activate them using the procedure above.

**The wireless glasses use 2 lithium CR1620 3 volt batteries. They are located underneath the
"On" button. To replace them, gently slide off the plastic cover, replace the batteries and
reattach the cover. (Replacement batteries are available at most places where camera and / or
watch batteries are sold, such as RadioShack.)
