This is an ActiveX control that allows your application to create custom additional virtual serial ports in a system and control them. Created virtual serial ports looks like real serial port for other Windows applications. From your application you can control data sent to virtual serial port by other applications and respond to them by sending own data to virtual serial port, which will be received by other Windows applications as if from a real port.

This is a PCI slot cover with a cutout for a serial port connector. My current case doesn't have the cutout, so I decided to make one. I don't see why this wouldn't work for any case, but I included a .step file if it needs to be modified for whatever reason. Shortly after I took the picture I realized I had assembled it backwards.

This snaps on top of the badBrick model B RaspberryPi case to hold a level-converter for RS232 so the 9-pin D connector can be securely held to the RaspberryPi for easy connection and disconnection. This makes the RaspberryPi significantly more useful as a micro-computer for dedicated devices (I use one for interfacing to a Amateur Radio transceiver via the UART serial built into the RaspberryPi and a USB sound-card) NOTE: this is the serial adapter that I designed this to fit....

Being basically lazy, I borrowed a DE9 (DB9, but that's not technically correct; a D sub miniature or D Sub connector) from a different design and used OpenSCAD to hack away the part I didn't want, as well as add an apron with mounting holes.

Voltlog has a programmer for the ESP32 that I thought looked nice. ( https://www.tindie.com/products/voltlog/voltlink-cp2102n-usb-serial-adapter-programmer/ ) But I do not like to run it powered and not protected so I made this small case. I made the hole for the pin header large enough so a 6 pin DuPont connector should fit. Depending on how precise you printer is some post processing might be needed. I use m2.5 12mm long screws... that acts as feets also... 11mm would be prefect...

For troubleshooting serial connections and serial devices i create a loopback tool from a null modem mini adaptor (9 pins) open up the adaptor bij drilling out the holes on the side. connect pin 2 and 3 close the mini adaptor with use of this case. use a hotair soldering gun to melt the end of the pin and push it flat to secure the end plate.
