He initiated the porting of the GNU development tools (binutils, gcc and the like) to the Amiga and BeOS platforms, allowing to compile open source POSIX software on these platforms. Normally I would destroy the magazine to get nice straight scans. Cannot do this as have an enthusiast who wants them so some pages may not be straight.
