The dam is a small stone masonry and timber structure with earth embankments located on the Pennichuck River. The dam is assessed to be in fair condition. The dam has erosion problems in several areas and extensive tree growth on embankments. It is small in size with a low hazard potential. Action recommended includes repairing erosion damage and removal of threatening trees and brush. (Author).

Berry Pond Dam is an earth embankment 185 feet long and 12 feet high, with a stop-logged spillway, 11 feet wide and 7 feet high. The dam was superimposed in 1967 upon an earlier rock crib dam built in 1884. Three pipes penetrate the dam, two of which are abandoned. The operative pipe, a gated 8 in. line, regulates flow through a man-made channel to a downstream water supply reservoir for the Town of Pittsfield. Chemiluminescence spectra and laser cavity gain measurements have been made on chemical reactions thought to have promise for visible lasing. A shock tunnel apparatus capable of producing hot flows for periods of milliseconds was used for the experiments. Previous work on the growth with relative humidity of sodium chloride and ammonium sulfate particles and of naturally occurring aerosols is reviewed. New measurements of aerosol particle growth with humidity obtained during a research cruise of the USNS Hayes to the North Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea in May 1977 are presented. We develop an approximation framework for linear hereditary systems which includes as special cases approximation schemes employing splines of arbitrary order.
