A Puppy Linux spin based on PreciseLite5.7.2-mk2.4 by JRB. This works on older machines and NETBOOKS 2008-12 The iso has a bug in which the browser file in root is not there, but the hidden operating file in root IS there. The tgz file solves that, with INSTRUCTIONS in the txt file You MUST keep the tgz file if you remaster at any time. This is Puppy Slacko5.7 2017 edition. There are significant updates to the 2016 version, notably openssl. The version of openssl has been upgraded to version 1.0.2h from the 1.0.1 series. This is the 2017 update to Puppy Linux slacko5.7-eee2016a. This is a major update in that bash,wget and openssl are updated. Openssl in particualr has migrated from the 1.0.1 version to 1.0.2h. Many thanks go out to HoerMirAuf for the Puppy Package that does the migration. The update from 102g to 102h can be accomplished at slackware(dot)com --> Security advisories --> 2016. One does not need that yet, as the 102 h version is already installed. But the path is needed for futire updates.

An upload of rcrsn51's foomatic install pet for Puppy Linux. It seems the mediafire link is broken/removed. As far as I can tell its 32-bit and does work in Slacko Puppies. Both files need to be installed as there is a bug in the main file. These two spins fix broken printing in slacko5.7-2017A and the eeepc version. BASH was reverted to 4.1.0(2) from the Slackware update of 4.2.53 to accomplish this. Therefore there are security concers; 1.) Operate these distros behind an active firewall at all times while using the internet. 2.) Disconnect from the internet when printing. An update to the Puppy Linux Slacko 5.7 for the eeePC. All updates and symlinks are accomplished through Jan. 19,2017. OpenSSL is 1.0.2.J, and FireFox is still version 27. The X11 family of files are also updated. In this distribution only the Intel i915 video software is used. This was quite a popular chipset with netbooks in 2008-9-10. Updated version of previous ff459esr made 12/10/17. This has additional settings falsed or blanked without affecting function. This is still 32-bit intended for older computers. The add-ons remain the same. A separate text file included has a sha256 sum. tar.gz compression used for compatibility reasons.

These two Puppy Linux spins correct a printing problem through foomatic/gutenprint. BASH was reverted to the original 4.1.0(2) as used by 01micko in the original Slacko5.7 in 2014. It appears that the Slackware update to 4.2.53 broke the printing. Both the 2017 update "B" version, and the trimmed "eee" versions maintain printing capacity, with a security caveat... wifi use for general usage is DICEY at best. A version of FireFox-27 configured for privacy and security. Apps include 'Better Privacy', 'Redirect Cleaner, and 'AdBlock Edge'. Not the newest FireFox but more user-friendly in 'about:config. Newer version of FireFox27.0.1 with about:config tweaks recently needed. The previous version was Aug. 2016... a lot has happened since. This version, like previous versions, is installed in /root, then unpacked from there. Any links on Desktop must be to /.mozilla/firefox/firefox for correct link.
