Forum: software Subject: dosbox can't read old zip files

Dosbox (or whatever mechanism feeds it files) can't read old zip files.

The contents are shown in a dos directory listing (dir), but it fails to read files when it comes time to read the contents (e.g. using 'type file.exe' in dos).

This means zip files need to be re-compressed (unzipped and zipped again) to use on DOSBox. This is not ideal for archiving.

Here's two example files:

Is archive.org aware of this?

Is there best practices documentation on archiving?
