I would like to upload a good number of 78s which I'm having professionally transferred. I have already successfully uploaded a couple of my own transfers of LPs and I have more of those to upload, too. I'm a big fan of the Internet Archive - it's by far the best place to share, enjoy and study historical, out-of-copyright recordings.

What's holding me back is that I can't work out how to compile album, insert and label images into the IA's 'book reader'-style liner-note format used (only?) on IA-originated audio item pages.

I love this 'book reader' format: it allows one to listen the audio and at the same time scroll through all associated images, full-page and zoomed-in if needed, without stopping the audio, to check if an album contains a particular item of interest without downloading any files, and so on - the advantages over the basic single-image display are many.

As far as I can tell, creating a liner-note 'book' is like creating any book. There are plenty of instructions on how to that for text item pages, but I can't seem to find any on how to do it for audio item pages. For my first LP upload, I tried creating and uploading a PDF containing all the item images in the correct order, but I couldn't get it to display. I downloaded some files associated with an IA-generated audio item with 'book reader'-style liner notes but couldn't work out how the 'book reader' file is generated.

Any help from expert IA staff will be very much appreciated! I've got some good stuff to share (including lots of American recordings). I've noticed in these forums that kind staffers often generously 'fix' problems on individual pages but that doesn't seem sustainable for a collection which, hopefully, will include lots of items and images. Teach a person to fish...

Thanks in advance for your kind attention and help and keep up the amazing work!

All the best,

A simple fix would be to upload the PDFs separately with links to the audio file in the Details section, i.e. per
Go back into the file via the editing tool, remove the books from the above audio file page into an associated page (called, here, Stradella 6 Trio Sonatas Liner Notes) so people could open them in a separate window or tab.

Thank you, I hadn't thought of that!

at this time that format is only available for certain collections. sorry but uploaded items would not be moved into that collection.
