Windows 95/98/ME/XP theme Read Me file:
**** Windows 2000 DESKTOP THEME **** created by Marco Van Hirtum 1999. Thank you for choosing this desktop theme. This is one my first desktop theme that I have created and I intend to create some more. I have created icons, animated cursors, sounds, startup- shutdown- poweroff screens and a wallpaper in different display settings and a screensaver bitmap file. INSTALLATION You need to have the following software installed on your computer; Winzip version 6.XX or higher Windows Plus Theme or similar such as Desktop Themes v1.86 (recommended) Unzip the file by using Winzip software and ensure that you have choosen to unzip to the c:\ and use foldernames and selected all files. The files will be installed in the following directory c:\program files\plus!\themes\themename\ except for the theme files themselve that will be c:\program files\plus!\themes\ When the above is completed, you may start the desktop theme manager such as Windows Plus and then select the desired theme from the selection list and apply it to your computer. Note that this desktop theme contains a wallpaper based on a display setting 1024x768 and 800x600. If you have smaller display setting, open the wallpaper through Paint or similar program and then simply change the image size to your display setting size and save the file with the same name and format. If you do not know what your display settings are, right click on the computer desktop, select properties and then select settings. SOUNDS The sounds in this theme were compressed using the MPEG Layer-3 CODEC. You must have software instaled that supports this format or you must download and install this CODEC for the sounds to work. You can download the Netshowplayer version 2.0 or higher if available. SCREENS Startupscreen, Shutdownscreen and Poweroffscreen If you wish to install the included screens, you first need to make a backup copy of your original screens. This can be done by copying the c:\logo.sys to logo.bck and copying the c:\windows\logos.sys to logos.bck and c:\windows\logow.sys to logow.bck. Then copy the files from the themename directory to the corresponding directory with the correct name. Note that the screen files in the themename directory are having the extension BMP and must have the extension SYS when you copy them to to the directory. In case you have a desktop theme program that can install these files for you, you may want to use this program to make this easier. SCREENSAVER Included in this package is a bitmap file that is located in the themename directory with the name ScreenSaver that can be used as a pattern for the screensaver 3D Flying Objects that comes with the Windows 98 Desktop theme package. In case you want to use thi screensaver, you must choose the 3D Flying Objects as screensaver and select as a style Flag with Pattern and select pattern and browse to the file in the themename directory and apply these settings. SUPPORT I can not provide any support that is related to the above but if you follow the instructions, which are quite simple, you should be able to enjoy this theme in no time. CREDITS I have used the following software to create this theme; Icons and animated cursurs - Microangelo Wallpaper - Adobe Photoshop 5.0 Sounds - Cool Edit 96 coverted through Windows Soundrecorder COMMENTS If you do have any comments to this desktop theme or you have any suggestions for desktop theme, feel free to e-mail me at mvanhir@be.packardbell.org.
