Subject:
Hypertext reader, nice but not so useful without a hypertext document
This is version 3.03 of "HyperReader!" by NTERGAID. It is a DOS-based, graphical hypertext reader capable of viewing documents created by that company's "HyperWriter!" product.
The tool isn't useful by itself - you won't get to see much if you run it in your browser - because you need a hypertext document to read. The 12th and 13th edition PC-SIG Library CD-ROMs also available from this site bundle this same version of the reader along with hypertext versions of the PC-SIG shareware catalog (and .ZIP files containing the shareware software itself). Although they appear to be missing from the 13th edition, the 12th edition includes .PCX format screenshots for some of the games and applications, which can be viewed by selecting hyperlinks in the document.
It is a fairly easy to use application, with at least one convention that would be familiar to users of DOS products from Microsoft such as the MS-DOS Editor, QBasic and QuickBASIC - hyperlinks are surrounded by green arrows.
One "hidden" feature is that you can use F10 to show the menu bar at the top of the screen. Alternatively you can click using the mouse in that area to make the menu appear.
