One of the most popular and influential games of the 1980's, Pac-Man stars a little, yellow dot-muncher who works his way around to clear a maze of the various dots and fruit which inhabit the board.
Pac-Man's goal is continually challenged by four ghosts: The shy blue ghost Bashful ("Inky"), the trailing red ghost Shadow ("Blinky"), the fast pink ghost Speedy ("Pinky"), and the forgetful orange ghost Pokey ("Clyde"). One touch from any of these ghosts means loss of a life for Pac-Man.
Pac-Man can turn the tables on his pursuers by eating one of the four Power-Pills located around the maze. During this time, the ghosts turn blue, and Pac-Man can eat them for bonus points. This only lasts for a limited amount of time as the ghosts' eyes float back to their center box and regenerate to chase after Pac-Man again.
Survive a few rounds of gameplay, and be treated to humorous intermissions starring Pac-Man and the ghosts.

This game is a classic. First, it came out on the arcade system. Then, it was on the Atari, which is a really bad port of the game. I like the game because it is a classic. Even non-gamers play it. I like the MS-DOS version because it does not glitch like the Atari version of the game. Overall, this game is a classic and everyone should play it. I give it 5 stars.

Not so good graphics, but fun!
For me the bad graphics are not critical. An essential need for arcade games is fun.

A Wonderful Little Game This Is
I absolutely adore how precise this Pac Man adaptation is and really dig the colors here, green is not that much of a bad color to get accustomed to to be honest. The sounds are near Arcade perfection and the fun factor is a complete 10 in my book.

What a horrid port:
* Terrible colors,
* Bizarre "dot kerning" -- seriously, look at the weird, seemingly random spacing between dots.
* Irritating sound effects.
* No cartoons after level completion
* Maze does not change, at least not for the first four levels I played.
* Graphic effects are lazy.
For comparison's sake, try the Atari 8 bit (400/800/XL, etc.) version which came out a year earlier, and maximizes the capabilities of those machines.
That said, it plays well here, and is a great example of just how widely ports of these classic games can vary.
