Subject: Great art, but the plot's potential got completely wasted
The plot has an absolutely wonderful buildup, matched with absolutely gorgeous artwork...
only for everything to be mercilessly destroyed by the ending. A long buildup featuring a very intricate aim-for-the-goal plot gets thrown through the window by the author by just having the protagonist marry the male lead. SMH. (She did have other options... couldn't she just become a courtesan in a different quarter, Shimabara for example?)
Alas, perhaps if this wasn't a shoujo manga, this would have a chance to really reach its full potential.
No rating since my opinion on the ending would heavily skew it. The art is still glorious.
