The 16-year-old singing sensation Miriam Baron has just recorded her first solo CD entitled Listen: Broadway's Greatest Moments. She is accompanied by David Lawrence on piano. Miriam was born in New Orleans in 1981. She attended Metairie Park Country Day School and is now a junior at Benjamin Franklin High School. She is a voice student of Professor Rita Lovett at Tulane University. At age 2 she began dancing with Rebecca Lentz at New Orleans Ballet and later moved to Off Broadway with Jeanne Pecot. She presently studies with Karen Hebert at the Metropolitan Dance Theatre of New Orleans. She attended the Broadway Theatre Project in Tampa under the direction of Ann Reinking in 1996 and 1998, and has worked with Pamela Bolling in Pensacola and New Orleans. Her first stage appearance was at age 8 as the balloon girl in Gypsy in Tulane's Summer Lyric Theatre. Since then she has performed in West Side Story (Anita), A Chorus Line (Maggie), Wonderland (Alice), Damn Yankees (Gloria Thorpe), Fiddler On The Roof (Golde), Big River, Promises, Into The Woods, to name a few. In 1995 she was an apprentice in Tulane University's Summer Shakespeare Festival.
