HAOPINAKA - Vanessa Alputila and Peter Garellick.Vanessa Alputila was born and raised in Ambon, an island famous throughout Indonesia and the world for itsʻ naturally musically gifted people. As a child, she grew up singing in church choirs and also learned the traditional folk songs of Ambon and Kei islands.Vanessa later developed a passion for Hawaiian music, which so much reminded her of the music of her childhood. She learned to play ukulele and began singing and performing for enthusiastic audiences in Indonesia. Now she shares her unique blend of Indonesian, Hawaiian, and popular music with the world. Just listen to her voice and you will instantly know why she is called the "Songbird of the Islands." Peter Garellick, plays Hawaiian steel guitar, ukulele and bass.
