This was my third show, (yes, I'm getting old) -I'd already been enveloped in the joy of the day before. Got some good photos on the ninth. It was a very special afternoon and night- I'll never forget it. The performance live was definately better than what you get from the SNBDs loaded here. They were so ON I was in heaven. I drifted here and there only about 30 ft. from the stage, dead center. Listening to the first few bars of this Morning Dew again literally gives me goosebumps. The day before was amazing, and I hardly expected them to surpass it, but they did.
I'm a big fan of Birdsong, largely for the jams they did within it, and this one is the longest I know of...beautifully rendered. PITB follows to end the first set, and by this time it was completely dark...and we all got a mind-blowing surprise. Right when the final bars of Playin' started, the refrain, someone in the sound booth out in the audience set off some major fireworks. So, during the final chords of the song, we get this visual extravaganza, everybody with their heads tilted back, gazing up in major euphoria.
Even though a bit of the magic from how extremely tight they were is lost in these recordings, it's still a great stream, especially Charlie's transfer. Buy yourself a really good desktop stereo if you haven't already, and enjoy!

It's cool to be able to hear the difference between Dicky Betts and Jerry's solos in GDTRFB. Nice show.

Oh, thank goodness for this recording and this show. Turned a beautiful day into a stellar one! This show will be playing on repeat all day. Such joy in these tunes. Were they ever here at all? Grateful, Garret

And better than any other SBD source I've heard. Flawless job, AGAIN, by Mr. Miller.

This Soundboard is probably less dry and sterile than most and is infinitely more pleasurable to listen to than the audience recording available on IA. The fact that sound board recordings do not capture the "ambience" of the room or in this case the outdoor stadium is not do to incompetence but is just the nature of the recording method as the microphones are placed directly in front of the speaker cabinets and not hundreds of feet from the stage. The boys do seem to be under the influence of some sort of stimulant to my ears. Im going to give this a four.

Unfortunately the board from 6-10-73 captures none of the majesty of this concert. It is truly remarkable how exceptionally poor handling of the soundboard during this period (72-74) can actually disguise great performance. One would never guess from this recording that the Eyes of the World contains such exciting and dynamic playing that it deserves to be mentioned along with established and universally acknowledged great jams like 2/27/69 Dark Star (Live Dead). It is truly a monumental jam.
You have to scrap the SB and listen to the audience tapes to really "hear" this concert. [I was there.]
There are some weak points, where whatever Jerry smoked or snorted between 1st and 2nd sets began to wear off. The Dark Star is also remarkable, up to the verse before Jerry deteriorates into spastic doodling mode.
Things start to fall apart here and also in Wharf Rat, where Jerry is clearly in need of another snort...
Most of the show is excellent. It is most notable for the jams. Besides Eyes and Dark Star, terrific Bird Song and Here Comes Sunshine.
Playing in the Band jam is typically uninspiring as it was during this period. Great song choice overall, but again, there is no joy in the soundboard. It sounds completely sterile.
The standard 'wisdom' on this show is that the final set with Allmans is the highlight. Nonsense. The second set is a true standout, in my opinion the very best of the year, mainly because of the unequaled Eyes.
One more time: LISTEN TO THE AUDIENCE.
Four stars because of incompetence on the soundboard.

I've listened to this many times over the years and I'm still in awe of the energy and musicianship displayed in this show. Nice sounding remaster Charlie. Thanks.

So this morning I hit a deer and had to finish a 7 page paper for my English final. well thankfully the dead and Mr. Miller were here to help see me through. sometimes i wonder how the averaged person makes it day by day without loading up a gem like this and giving it a whirl!!!! Here is to hoping I get an A...come on Jerry i know your look out!

The Best part of getting older must be the fact that you guys got to see them during ths time. Being a "Touch Head" I was that little kid on Sunshine Day Dream Movie. Thanks Charlie!!! The music will change lives for ever due to your efforts.

Nice efforts all around by Charlie Miller et all. This show was my favorite for all-around best. Not the best ever played. Just my personal fav. Vibes were just right, the boys were in a nice groove, and the sound engineers nailed the wall of sound. Best damn sound fidelity I ever heard come out of a PA System, period! And the Aux PA towers back on the in-field added a blissful fill to the sound candy there. I remember this show lasting a total of 8 hours, including breaks for the boys and the long jam at the end.

There is a one-minute loss caused by the reel change in GDTRFB. I have a one-minute patch from my AUD that I made. It's cross-faded into this fixed track for you.

What else can I say? You all know from GD Lore and previous reviews that it was a great performance, so, the only focus of review would be for it's sound quality.

This is a beefy recording (with some minor clipping) which has been so well electronically clarified that, even at low volume, this sounds super.
