Weirdomusic is the nom-de-plume of 34 year old Marco Kalnenek from Heerlen, the Netherlands. The name was first used for his 1992 cassette release Someweirdomusic and is now the name of Marco's website Weirdomusic.com and all related musical activities. Marco started playing the piano at age 9. His first band Foolish Behaviour was formed around 1982, when he started jamming and recording tapes with his pal "Deurie" (Marco Dörenberg) and assorted other friends. Hundreds of hours of...

Kölle Ajuja Koelle Ajuja (Cologne Carnival Weird Electro Mix) This Mini Album contains the extended version of recordings and edits done in the carnival days 2003. The original samples taken with a hidden microphone and a minidisk recording unit have been realized in the bars and streets of cologne while the carnival celebrations came to climax. Later on he remixed 111 taken samplez and added fat drumgrooves and synthesizer lines to draw an accoustic genre-painting far away from the view of...

Maybe it's all of that and more. This recording is from 1993, it was done at shimmy disc New York City, and due to the events that followed the DAT recording is not a very clean recording. "Crampi dopo il rialzo" (very roughly "cramps after getting up") is a collection of tracks I wrote while an incessant thought roamed freely - but slowly - in my head. I was thinking about old age... as shows are pulled off the air, friends are into their second child or second divorce, I can't help but thinking that growing old isn't a state which happens at once but is gradual and mentally afflicting process not so much a physical one. Fittingly I used old equipement for...

A set of three muzak cassettes were "acquired" from the office of a supermarket. They were heavily processed and became the phonically coarse speaker-rattling feedback-drenched recording with moments of clarity like a painted sunbeam you hear. This recording was then played at another supermarket. This is not a comment about muzak itself (since there's little to comment about...) but maybe a quiet protest against the constant dumbing down of everything against the supposed fear that...

"Communication Era" is the album which was created between 2000 and 2002 and published in 2003. It is a sound description of human souls involved in the spaces of international network and endless connections of humans and machines. Underwater Alien Being performed during Warsaw Electronic...

"I Am Sitting in A Room" is a psycho-acoustic classic by Alvin Lucier for voice and tape. The phrases describing the action are recorded, then played into a room and re-recorded. And that goes on over and over again. Collage artist Residuum takes the text by Lucier and let the computer speak it. And as a computer can only speak virtually, the technique is applied to virtual space, i.e. a plugin, that simulates the echoes of real space. Over and over again, 59 times, to be precise. And...

Jonas Lindgren - Saltholmen GPY#001 The latest bustle of activities from Jonas Lindgren have resulted in a damned fine little EP. "Saltholmen" is nothing short of stunning in it's soft spoken and understated subtleness. I've had the pleasure of following Lindgrens' progression and musical growth up close over that past few years, and regardless if it's earpiercing noise, pseudo-academic EAM, droning isolationism or more recently brittle little melodies combined with pristine field...

This is Cormac Scanlan's second full length album, this time under the alias of Ichor. Whereas his first album Ditokous Deiparous could be described as being an avant-garde take on ambient electronica, Lucid Dreams Of Unitary Urbanism is much more soundscape orientated. Whilst still often reaching deep into electronica, on tracks such as Never Truly Trusted, and the purely Csound created Everything In Modulation, many of the tracks contain a variety of recorded and organic sounds, and very...

There is this German genius Dieter Döpfer, who has been manufacturing analog synthesizers and midi equipment for over 20 years. And he even got a phonecall by Florian Schneider one day, asking for custom-made equipment. Florian Schneider is co-founder of Kraftwerk, who are well-known for using analog synthesizers from - well not really from the beginning, but - the mid-70s. So to celebrate those two important elements in the history of German music making, Residuum made these mp3 files. Most...
