This recovery CD set was acquired from Yahoo Auctions! Japan, and was dumped by Alcohol 120%. MDF/MDS dumps, TIF scans, and dumping log files are included.
CD 2 appears to be at first glance a standard NT 4.0 Workstation (Japanese) CD; however, the files in the \i386 directory are encrypted using a custom algorithm involving XOR and MD5. The setup files for other architectures (NEC PC-9800 series in \pc98, and PowerPC PReP in \ppc) are untouched, and the encrypted .CEX files can be decrypted with this code.
CD 1 is bootable (the emulated boot floppy image actually includes both standard MS-DOS 7.x and DOS/V 7.x for Japanese support - it makes a Compaq-specific BIOS call after language selection, and the actual recovery environment (a minified Windows 95 distribution that runs entirely from the CD!) also has BIOS-lock protection). Among other things, it includes some drivers and software that are prepared to be installed along with the OS from CD 2.
If you find this useful, please rate and review; this will motivate me to acquire and dump more old recovery media sets.

We may be in need of the Compaq Quick Restore Version 2.6 or 3.2 covering all old Deskpro EP Series Intel 440BX Chipsets and Intel 82433EX chipsets supporting Windows 95 and Windows 98 probably if you have 98Se as well.
