Location: Sweden Equipment: Distortion pedals, 4 track cassette studio, wavelab, psycle sequencer Description: This project started as a experiment for me to explore sound creation. I came up with the name SLAV (slave in english) almost immediately, at the time i was listening a lot to a old swedish hardcore act called Libresse, and they had a song called "slav". I was going through some strange phases during the recording of this material. Distorted.

On an early quiet Sunday afternoon, a light rain blankets sleepy Shanghai. Something was brewing at the Live Bar in Shanghai. But things were not all quiet for very long- Noishanghai IX was taking place and it woke the dead. Opening with Torturing Nurse it was just the jump in icy water that we needed for this event. As usual, TN never disappoints delivering massive walls of sound and screams. Vavabond was next with great noise weaving in and out of a heavy waterfall of static. Teasing you with...

Donki Ra began as an outlet for harsh-noise and theatrical gimmicks...the glitz and glam that noise should be. Focusing on the sexual, perverse, and grotesque, I aim to keep things as simple yet difficult as possible. Noise found its way into my life when Merzbow's "Venereology" arrived at my home while I was in the 7th grade, changing me forever. Aside from Donki Ra, I am a member of My Ovaries!, The Laker McCabe Conspiracy, a guest on long-time friend Mark Koch's project,...

Great solo performances from Rolf-Erik Nystrom and one song with Torturing Nurse. Rolf's solos used unorthodox saxophone ligature techiniques with inventive sound manipulation to create a very visual and dramatic performances. With the addition of Torturing Nurse (Junky & Xu Cheng) in the third song, acoustic and electric were complemented perfectly. At times The sax sounded like part of the electronics only recorgnizable by the breaths between sounds. The encore ended with a short personal...

Searching for Sentinels creates mind-numbing soundscapes that evokes the listener to develop a heightened sense of hearing. Light in August is the duet project of Ann Adachi (flute, piccolo, voice) and Gregory Reynolds (alto sax, voice). Through the unconventional use of traditional woodwind instruments, they develop focused and entrancing improvisations with attention to breath, space, sound, and transformation. They have performed in Seattle, Tokyo, Boston and New York City, where they currently reside.

DCLXVI creates some of the most extreme noise we have featured on Bivouac. Watch your speaker levels and enjoy. DCLXVI is a Montana based experimental/harsh noise/audio/visual project which began in 1998. The project began as a solo vocal only harsh noise project. Since then, DCLXVI has collaborated with many other artists and used many different sound sources to create a unique audio experience. In 2001 DCLXVI also began The Pi Project, which is a collaborative effort to somehow put the code...

Our first curated concert was held at the Issue Project Room in Brooklyn, NY on a sunny and warm Sunday evening. The perfomance featured one artist from each of our previous installations- Donki Ra, Nim, Green Andy, and Bujalex. All artists presented unique performances using their current composition techniques resulting in a barrage varied sounds from drone to noise to beats and back again. The final set of the show was an improvised performance where all artists merged their individual...

It was a cool but humid night at the Live Bar in Shanghai. There were more people there for this event than I had ever experienced. The night started quietly with Patel Pretal a duo from the UK. With dreamy live vocal samples combined with the improvised performance of random objects, it really was a great way to introduce the night. Casse Ufficio Malattie Tropicali was next performing on some borrowed equipment from Torturing Nurse. A group from Italy studying Chinese at Fudan, some of them...

Experiment III is the latest release from Noise Research. Minimal in its approach, the songs are organized in such a way that takes you on a journey of a dream- it has a beginning, a climax, and an end. Sounds and samples are gently combined creating an ominous soft web where your ears sleep until the pleasant nightmares from the “Flow Of Heat” start setting in. Then you are silently taken back down to where you came from ready to start the day with a hearty breakfast and a cup of coffee....

One of our all-time favorite releases, Father Fabric weaves field recordings into warped loops and very lofi sounds reminiscent of the times of Analog tape reel loops.
