Enjoy the most realistic aircraft handling ever achieved on a PC based flight simulation with the totally rewritten flight models of MD-83, MD-88 and B747-400!
Three years of research has resulted in highly sophisticated flight equations based on a true inertia system, true airflow calculations and detailed calculations of forces (even down to tire deformations) that warrant an astonishingly realistic behavior of the airplane, both in ground and airborne handling. Revised atmosphere and grossly enhanced weather effects like wind turbulence, rain, snow as well as runway surface calculation allow realistic ground handling in steady or gusty crosswind—while taking into account dry, wet, snowy or icy runways.
Explore the edges of the airplane envelope! Want to see whether you can loop or roll your favorite airliner? Good luck! Stress calculations will give you an idea when your aircraft disintegrates in the air—however, aircraft will maintain flight, but you will need to deal with asymmetric lift, asymmetric drag, flamed out engines and much more if you overstress the airframe. You may loose parts of your wings, slats, flaps, tailplane or cause engine failures! Touch down hard, and experience the skidding experience with a partly collapsed gear.
Aircraft Abstraction layer (AAL for short—the technology behind the new flight model) makes flying easy as airplanes are designed to be flown by average pilots. It also teaches the correct, real world handling techniques used by real world pilots. Be ahead of your airplane, that's the key to success in flying your aircraft—The inertia of the plane now forces you to think ahead of your airplane, just as real aircraft do.
AS2 features all the systems that the pilot will have to deal with including fully featured Autopilot and Main Control Panel (MCP), Flight Management Computer (FMS), Thrust Computer, Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS), Traffic and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) and many more systems. The Pilot will be relieved from handling other systems by the virtual first officer, who will take care your workload as pilot —as in the real plane.
Aural Alarms (e.g. GPWS, TCAS, configuration alarms), voice communication with the first officer and improved sounds for touch down, stall warning and other aircraft related sounds have been implemented using real world sounds.
AS2 comes with a 300 page manual in printed form (150 pages being Aerad Airport and ILS charts), teaching you all relevant methods of handling an airplane—not only in windless situations, but crosswind, gusty winds, windshear and all levels of turbulences, that make an ILS approach in clouds really demanding. In addition three Aerad enroute charts covering Europe and North Atlantic come with AS2, as well as laminated checklists for the MD-83, MD-88 and B744.
Features:
- ATP Rev. E including all original subLOGIC aircraft (B737, B767, B747-357, A320 and Shorts 360), ATP default scenery (covering the USA standing 1990) and ATP Continental Sceneries (covering USA in detail standing 1993 - formerly known as USA East/West sceneries).
- 3DAGS V2.0, including all previous 3DAGS features and panels
- Red/Green Anaglyph glasses included (while supply lasts)
- MD-83, MD-88 and B747-400 with totally rewritten flight models (AAL) and new instrument panels
- AAL aircraft based on real time airflow calculations, mass asymmetry (e.g. fuel imbalance) and force asymmetry (e.g. engine failures) calculated for the most realistic aircraft handling ever achieved on a PC based flight sim
- Accurate Atmosperic Model allowing proper performance of aircraft up to FL500
- Weather effects such as improved wind and turbulence simulation, Rain and Snow effects, runway surface condition influences braking action
- FMS, LNAV, VNAV and CATIII autoland with all AAL aircraft
- Flight Director for the AAL aircraft

- 800*600 VESA Graphics and 640*400 VESA fully Win95/98 compatible (Mach32, S3, Mach64 accelerator drivers for 800*600 included, but requiring AS2 to run under native DOS without Win95/98 active), supporting most graphics boards available
- Scenery Viewer (called Ernie) allowing viewing of AS2 and ATP sceneries and useable as radar screen for AS2 multiplayer via network
- Keyboard lockup and other bugs fixed, that were a nuisance in ATP for a long time
- Extensive 300 pages Manuals in printed form, 150 pages describing AS2 and handling techniques, 150 pages featuring Aerad's airport, ILS and approach charts
- Enroute Charts by Aerad covering Europe and North Atlantic
- Checklists and detailed performance data on AAL aircraft on laminated cards
AS2 comes as a stand alone package with an easy installation under DOS and Win95/98.
Requirements:486DX4/100 or better, 8 MB of memory, 560kB of DOS memory, MSDOS 5.0 and above (included with Windows), VESA 1.2 compatible graphics board with 1MB of video memory, Soundblaster, Soundblaster16, SB PCI 128, SB Live, Ensoniq or compatible soundboard, Joystick/Yoke and Pedals strongly recommended.
VESA compatible graphics can be used under Win95/Win98 directly, too. Mach64 accelerator (used with ATI 3D card) will run much faster, but is not compatible with Win95/98 mode - you can always use VESA mode with that card, too.
Recommended System: Pentium MMX 233, Min 8MB of memory, 560kB of DOS memory available, EPIC board for joystick/flightstick interface, ATI 3D (or other Mach64/Rage I/Rage II/Rage Pro compatible) graphics board, Creative Soundblaster 16, Flight Yoke and pedals strongly recommended.
