I chose to edit my initial review (which is replaced by this one) because I was mistaken, Jason Scott is correct, the files are in good shape. This is an excellent addition to the archive, thank you for preserving these.

Best I could do
I'm the one who uploaded this... I originally downloaded this lot of Macintosh files from some murky anonymous Russian FTP server, so that may be why there's some weird characters in the filenames... I downloaded the files on my PowerMAC G5 and archived them into a big .TAR file using Stuffit 12, it didn't mention any errors during the process... The .TAR archive format seemed the best to me for this instead of .sitx or .ZIP because I figured it would be better for a very large archive and it would be easier to unarchive in a wide variety of platforms... I have a little MacOS utility named "Type Resolve" that can be used on MacOS 7.5 to associate back a filename with it's icon when the icon is just a blank sheet...

Archive is fine.
The .ZIPs are not trash and the archive is fine. An even cursory look at the materials shows that the .zips are basically collections of .SIT, .TOAST and .HQX files with scans or other related materials wrapped in for context.
I have added a directory browsing link in the description for easier use.

The archive is fine, although people sometimes use variant TAR utilities and not all unpack the collection correctly. I have added a 29gb ".ZIP" file which can be unpacked by that set of utilities instead.
