so, for the LONGEST time, this was, in fact, the perfect set for openemu (2013-12-20 - 2019-11-13 (almost 6 years!)), but openemu starting updating the underlying ume core to more closely match the official mame releases. you can see more of this, here:

the latest (as of this writing) openemu ume (mame) core is 0.235; the latest official mame release is 0.239.

since the 2019 openemu update, there have been 6 underlying ume updates REQUIRING matching mame sets (and even within there, there have been some screwy folder organization changes). so, you have two options:

• stay up-to-date hovering between openemu and official (which are often close, if not overlap), or
• LOCK your ume core: go to ~/Library/Application Support/OpenEmu/Cores, and then get info on and click the "lock" checkbox for UME.oecoreplugin. bonus points if you download the release you need from the above link and replace the core before locking.

Great full set, works great with OpenEmu. One Caveat though. If you are trying to extract this on a Mac using The Unarchiver or KEKA, you are going to have the same problem as the guy who's post is at the bottom. It won't work properly and you will get a warning and end up with about 4GB of usable files, due to them not being able to correctly unarchive this type of 7z file. You will have to use the Windows or Linux official version of 7z to get this to unzip.

This massive, complete collection is extremely important to videogame preservation and inspired me to start making working sets of my own.

Use PeaZip. It also takes an extremely long time to unzip.

This is the version of MAME/UME as used in OpenEmu, meaning the zips can be dropped in without compatability issues. The collection can be browsed online to pull out the items you want to use, or you can grab the entire zip IF you're using a 64-bit zip program that can handle zip files > 4GB to decompress.

Where did they go? Fix them?

I downloaded (and took a huge hunk out of my monthly download allotment from my ISP), and found out that the .zip file was invalid. Using Ubuntu, so it's not like I'm using some flaky third party ad supported archiving utility.
