areas of low clouds and fog along the coast and parts of the bay this morning and there we go with that shallow marine layer out there. a live look at the "salesforce tower" camera looking west this morning. not as chilly in spots compared to yesterday morning but still we're talking cool. 49 in santa rosa as well as for concord. 55 in oakland as well as for san francisco. 50 for you in san jose. good morning to you. and 47 in livermore. by the way, in santa rosa, the visibility is down to a quarter mile. so dense fog across the north bay. here's what to expect. sunshine for most of us through the day. that fog pulls back to the coast near normal daytime highs. very similar compared to yesterday. so if you liked yesterday, you're going to get it again today. and very similar weather over the next several days. looking ahead to next week, a chance of showers. we'll talk about that coming up. jaclyn has a look at traffic this morning. we're looking at a parking

lot. i mean the bay bridge toll plaza. that's where we are seeing a big backup for your wednesday morning commute. if you travel this route, in the red 20 minutes connecting with the central freeway but getting there to the toll plaza is -- the backup already on your five five approach. berkeley curve getting sluggish. eastshore freeway still looking okay. 20 minutes out of hercules to the maze. we are tracking an earlier accident that's starting to cause some slowdowns. this is along 880. it's actually on the hegenberger on-ramp to southbound 880. a big rig flipped over on its side blocking two lanes of that on-ramp. and now we are starting to see some slowdowns in that area. again, it's not blocking any lanes of the freeway itself. but quite a bit of activity, you will see some flashing lights. definitely a visual distraction if you are making your way there. and just south of there, we are still tracking an earlier problem along 580. we are seeing the backup. but the crash was on the connector ramp from 238 to

southbound 880. give yourself some extra time because of delays. it's a busy wednesday morning commute. developing out of san francisco, this morning police are investigating a shooting that happened less than 12 hours ago involving a u.s. park police officer. it happened at aquatic park near the end of van ness avenue and the municipal pier. our jackie ward is live there now with what we know so far. jackie. >> reporter: michelle, to give you a little perspective from the last time i talked to you, we have moved down a little bit on van ness down the hill more close to the water i should say. that's because the scene was just opened up to the public about a half-hour ago after two cars were cleared from the scene. we have video that was taken just moments ago to show you what we saw. you can see that there was a black sedan as well as a u.s. park police patrol car removed from the end of van ness by

the municipal pier. once that happened, police cleared the area and normal activity has since resumed. not many details were revealed overnight but we can confirm that one person was shot and is at zuckerberg general hospital in critical condition this morning recovering from life-threatening injuries. another person was detained. the shooting happened last night around 9:30. sfpd says a u.s. park police officer was somehow involved and a gun from the suspect was recovered at the scene. several groups are looking into what happened but they are still early on in the investigation and trying to figure out what exactly led to this police shooting. so if you have any information, call police. text any information to tip 411. live in aquatic park, jackie ward, kpix 5.

two people displaced after a fire in san jose at a duplex that happened just after 10 p.m. the fire first started in the patio then extended into the duplex. and take a look at this. some neighbors even tried to help the firefighters put out those flames. they grabbed their own water hoses and tried to spray down the fire. >> that was our initial concern is the rescue of those residents getting them out of there. we were able to get them out of the structure, get them to a safe spot in front of the building and then able to continue our firefighting effort. >> residents were able to safely evacuate from the duplex and the red cross is now assisting the two displaced residents. no one was injured. and the cause is under investigation. and earlier this morning fire crews in antioch responded to this fire at a kfc restaurant. it started about 1 a.m. on mahogany way. crews put it out in 30 minutes. no injuries.

he cause is under investigation. breaking news this morning. at least 13 people have been killed in an apparent suicide bombing on a college campus in crimea. this is new video in from the scene. more than 50 other people are injured. a russian antiterrorist agency says the blast was triggered by an explosive device. crimea is a region rushed annexed from the ukraine four years ago which triggered clashes and sanctions. secretary of state mike pompeo is in turkey meeting to discuss missing journalist jamal khashoggi. they say they have evidence he was murdered at the saudi consulate. pompeo says everyone would be investigated including the royal family. the saudis will say khashoggi's death was the result of an interrogation

gone wrong. >> it depends whether or not the king or the crown prince knew about it, in my opinion. number one, what happened. but whether or not they knew about it. if they knew about it that would be bad. >> the president is criticizing the condemnation of saudi arabia comparing it to the sexual assault allegations against supreme court justice brett kavanaugh saying here we go again, with your guilty until proven innocent. back in the bay area this morning, we are learning new details about a plane that crashed in livermore. the aircraft was registered to a company called valiant effort in cupertino. chopper 5 captured the world war ii era plane after it crashed into a fence at the livermore municipal airport. it veered off the runway while the pilot was practicing touch and goes where the plane lands and takes off again without stopping. neither of the two people on board was injured. this morning, plans to build a new ikea in the east bay will have to wait. the 317,000-square-foot

"salesforce tower" camera. shallow marine layer layer action. dense spots at the north bay with patchy light fog this morning around parts of the bay especially right over here. santa rosa 49. 50 in san jose. 55 in san francisco as well as for oakland. livermore 47 and 49 for concord. let talk about the visibility. because we're tracking that dense fog especially up across the north bay. you can see low clouds and fog along the coast. visibility a half mile. sunshine for most of us here although the fog has pulled back to the coast. near normal daytime highs. shower chances for next week. so we have to look to next week to see some changes.

>> we're tracking this accident involving a big rig that overturned on the eastbound hegenberger on-ramp to southbound 880. it's not blocking the on-ramp. it's on that shoulder. but it's still out there. you can see some flashing lights. we have tried to highlight that for you there. you can still access that on- ramp to get on to southbound 880 but definitely going to see some delays at least just trying to get along 880 in the northbound direction, the commute direction. further south earlier problems, a transit bus that was blocking a lane approaching jackson and then we are also tracking two new accidents. so your drive time is in the red just about 30 minutes commute from 238 to the maze. we are also tracking a new problem near tennyson.

so certainly not helping those speeds which are dipping below 15 miles per hour. eastshore freeway in hercules lots of red out there. give yourself some extra time. it's about 30 minutes to the maze. this morning, a trio of bank robbers are on the run after a takeover and wild escape in stanislaus county. new video showing the moment one man tried to stop the robbers from getting away. look closely. this video was taken from inside the good samaritan's truck. the driver was trying to pin the three suspects in their vehicle. and at one point, one of the suspects pulled a gun and took aim. other witnesses at the scene were worried for this man in the truck. >> following bank robbers to court and trying to box them in, i don't necessarily think that would have been the process i would have done. >> still photos from bank surveillance cameras show the scary scene minutes earlier.

inside the wells fargo bank a customer lying on the floor as one robber holds a gun face covered with a ski mask and hood another photo showing the same suspect leaping over a countertop. and later these photos show the robbers' initial getaway car after it hit a bicyclist. the windshield bashed in from the impact. the cyclist had moderate injuries will is expected to be okay. today bay area beaches are expected to see some massive waves. it is the first significant swell of the fall season and mary is here to break down what we can expect. >> yes, michelle. great news for surfers with those large breakers. but not so much for beach- goers. let's talk about this. the first significant swell of the fall season for all bay area beaches. we are talking swells two to four feet at 18 to 20 seconds breaking waves 7 to 9 feet. those are some massive waves. now, the danger will be increased, rip currents and sneaker waves. temperatures upper 50s to low

60s on the water. and then for tomorrow, larger swells. we are talking 6 feet at 15 seconds breaking waves 10 to 12 feet there. and also, coastal beach erosion likely with this significant, as well. so the best advice, michelle, is to look at the waves for about 30 minutes. see how it is reacting. and then get closer to it. we want to make sure everyone is safe. >> never turn you back on the ocean. >> no. >> we always say that often here. you're a surfer, kenny, so might be good conditions for you. >> i'm pretty stoked. surf is up. i'm hoping to make it out. but i have to pick up my kids later this afternoon but i'm not sure. i hope you will come with me one day. this morning search-and- rescue efforts are being carried out in central texas after historic flooding. after days of pouring rain, some rivers reached up to about 18 feet above flood stage causing a number of road closures. official shut down the bridge over the colorado river after

afternoon and, of course, that weekend forecast, as well. a federal judge approved elon musk's settlement with the sec. the securities and exchange commission alleged that musk committed fraud in his infamous tweet now about taking tesla private. musk also has to give up his seat as the chairman of tesla for three years at least but will still be able to allow his hold his ceo post. a new report claims uber and lyft may be headed to an initial public offering next year. according to the "wall street journal, the uber offering could be as much as $120 billion which is more than ford, general motors and fiat chrysler combined. last year they were at $15 billion. netflix is flying high. new home construction is taking a dip. joining us now is kcbs radio's financial reporter jason

brooks. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. a rousing cheer for netflix as they topped earnings expectations for the 3rd quarter. revenue soaring over 30% higher to $4 billion. the big key for investors is that netflix blew away its own subscriber addition forecast adding about 1 million u.s. subscribers, nearly 6 million international subscribers. now has over 130 million around the world. that's a big reversal from the second quarter when netflix subscriber additions were weaker than expected. and as a result, its stock is higher. it's up by 7%. the housing market has been slumping and it's not going to get much help from homebuilders at the moment as new home construction in september fell over 5% from the month before. homebuilders say that they continue to be challenged by labor shortages as well as rising materials costs. there's definitely a need for new housing as home buyers are dealing with historically low levels of existing homes for

things up on the westbound direction of 580 near 10 sixth avenue blocking two lanes. so your cruising speed through that stretch, yeah, slow going, under 10 miles per hour. 880 may be a better bet for you. that's in the yellow as far as our drive times go. that's -- excuse me, the drive times on 580, 23 minutes, likely to go higher with the two lanes blocked. so 880 is actually moving but the commute direction that we're always dealing with the delays and here's that big rig that's on the hegenberger on- ramp. so that's the southbound side. typical slow and go in the red under 30 minutes from 238 to decoto road. san mateo bridge in the yellow out of hayward to foster city. that westbound side definitely seeing those delays. no problems to report on that stretch. 101 right near sfo, 380, you can see traffic is zooming by in both directions. so if you are heading over to

oakland 53. and concord at 49. let's talk about the low clouds and fog. so along the coast also parts of the bay this morning, check out the north bay. five miles for the visibility in petaluma and a half mile to some dense fog up in santa rosa rosa. for most of us the fog pulls back to the coast your normal daytime highs. cooler and chance of showers next week. so some changes in the longer range weather models for next week there. here's the reason why. the satellite and radar view the ridge of high pressure still to our north that low still to our south there and those weather features not really changing too much so that weather pattern is stuck in place over the next several days. futurecast to show that you sunshine as we head through the day. low clouds and fog action still along the coast. and then tonight into tomorrow fog at the coast and the bay.

i'm jackie ward live in aquatic park in san francisco where a police shooting happened less than 12 hours ago. this area was cleared just a little while ago after two cars were towed from the scene. we have video that was taken just about an hour and a half ago. you can see that one of the cars removed was a black sedan. the other a u.s. park police patrol car. this happened by van ness next to the municipal pier. once that happened, police cleared the area and normal activity has since resumed. not many details were revealed overnight. but we can confirm that one person was shot and is at sf general hospital in critical condition this morning recovering from life- threatening injuries. another person was detained. the shooting happened around 9:30 last night, sfpd says a u.s. park police officer was somehow involved and a gun from the suspect was recovered at the scene. both the sfpd and the san
