News Network: Meadow Fire - Hikers and campers were airlifted out of Yosemite Sunday as a fire near Half Dome quickly grew out of control. The Meadow Fire had been burning in Yosemite's little valley since Aug. 16 but hadn't posed a threat until this past weekend. Pascale Fusshoeller is the publisher of Yubanet, a fire monitoring news service, and she's been following the fire since the initial lighting strike in mid August. She joins us to explain the problems fires like these pose for firefighters.
California's Drought: Sierra College Lecture - California faces its most severe drought emergency in decades. Californians have been called to reduce water, and businesses, farms, and reservoirs are running dry. As part of an ongoing science lecture series, Sierra College Professor Carol Jean Cox will outline California's climate, its 20th century water systems, ground water issues and California's future in a free presentation this week. Her talk is Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Center at Sierra College in Grass Valley.

The novel peers into the troubles of the "rock n' roll lifestyle", examining its sexual abuse, sexism, drug and alcohol misuse, and self-doubt. Kathey Norton wrote her first novel as a high school student and has been featured in a number of literary magazines as well as poetry anthologies.
Mother Falcon - One of Austin's beloved bands, Mother Falcon, is known for its wide-ranging instrumentation and collaborative songwriting. The orchestral rock band can have up to 21 members at one time as musicians cycle in and out of the group. It's hard to classify the collective sound of the group as it crosses the line between classical chamber music and contemporary indie, but the core of the band's character is preserved by vocalist Nick Gregg, guitarist Claire Puckett and accordionist Tamir Kalifa. Mother Falcon is performing at Assembly in Sacramento Tuesday night at 9 p.m.
