- Topics
- fb alpha, final burn alpha, fba, emulator, roms, arcade, emulation, reference set, non-merged
NOTE 1: Please use the BitTorrent protocol to download this collection whenever possible, and try to upload/seed an equal amount as you download. NOTE 2: Due to the way that archive.org handles file uploads, it is necessary to distribute this collection as a multi-part zip file. Decompress the collection by opening the first file in the multi-part archive: FB Alpha v0.2.97.39 Non-Merged.zip.001. This requires software capable of managing multi-part zip archives, such as the open-source 7zip tool or many others.
Contents:
- Complete Non-Merged FB Alpha ROM collection
- FB Alpha DAT file for validation
Arcade ROM Reference Collections:
- MAME 2000 Reference (Complete MAME 0.37b5)
- MAME 2003 Reference (Complete MAME 0.78)
- MAME 2003-Plus Reference
- AdvanceMAME 2006 Reference Complete MAME 0.106)
- MAME 2010 Reference (Complete MAME 0.139)
- FB Alpha 2016 Reference (Complete FBA v0.2.97.39)
ROM Set Format: Non-Merged
Non-Merged ROM romset zips include all the files needed to run that game, including any ROMs from 'parent' romsets. Using Non-merged ROM sets means that every .zip in this collection is complete and can be used stand-alone, with the exception of romsets that require a BIOS file.

Very comprehensive rom collection for FB Alpha.
Not sure why other reviews saying this didn't unzip properly, it works perfectly with 7zip. I'd like to see a full file listing though, because I deleted the "Samples" folder it extracted and now wondering if this were the audio files some games need.

Works great, finally something that will be properly recognized by RetroArch scans. Thank you very much. Don't know why people are having trouble extracting. I used 7zip (right click on FB Alpha v0.2.97.39 Non-Merged.zip.001, open archive) and extracted files that I wanted individually), worked just fine.

archive.org supports zip archive parsing. eg: "[archive].zip/" will list the contents of an archive which is especially useful for sets like this.

The last zip file does not work, you won't get past the "b"s in the arcade ROM folder.

I was also getting errors with zip files (downloaded individually or via torrent). Solution was to merge the separate files into a single zip and then extract.
If you're on a Mac/Linux you can run the following from the terminal in the director of the zip files;
for i in `seq 1 7`; do cat FB\ Alpha\ v0.2.97.39\ Non-Merged.zip.00$i>>uncut-version.zip; done
That will merge all the zip files into a single 'uncut-version.zip'. Unzip that file and then you will have everything. Hopes this save you some time.

Subject: sha1sums not matching
Subject: sha1sums not matching
Hi there,
Thanks for your hard work. Could you take another look at the 3rd and 4th zip files? When unzipping, I get this message in the terminal:
extracting: FB Alpha v0.2.97.39 Non-Merged.zip.003 bad CRC ac231f7c (should be 728b2b21)
extracting: FB Alpha v0.2.97.39 Non-Merged.zip.004 bad CRC bee11af0 (should be 1e6494c3)
I also did a sha1sum on those files; they don't match what the checksum specified:
832ce57056206b549e5be5fc12e24628d822a18c FB Alpha v0.2.97.39 Non-Merged.zip.003

Subject: Update to resolve CRC mismatch
Several users reported CRC errors on unpacking despite the archive volumes each matching the SHA1 checksums. A fresh copy of "FB Alpha v0.2.97.39 Non-Merged.zip.004" has been uploaded on January 27, 2017 that seems to resolve the CRC error even though it hashes the same as the first upload. Apologies for the inconvenience.
