Suffocation are a bunch of nice New York guys playing technical death metal for a living- and doing it well. The band began as high schoolers on Long Island, and throughout lineup changes and eight albums and several record labels have morphed into elder statesmen of American death metal. For decades Suffocation has been touring globally, bringing their brutal, aggressive sound to fans of all stripes. Growling, or guttural yowling, is a hallmark of the band - Suffocation was one of the first to harness this vocal sound and still one of the best. Live, Suffocation makes metal look easy (perhaps due to years of touring). Be prepared for blast beats, heated guitar solos, and the most precise metal instrumentation you could hope for - don't be surprised if your neck hurts the next day from all the head banging.
