In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Time Out, the Dave Brubeck Quartet's experimental recording that defied all odds to become the first million-selling jazz album, Sony Legacy has issued a deluxe package that includes the re-mastered recording; a DVD about the making of Time Out, and a bonus album of perviously unreleased live performances at the Newport Jazz Festival by the classic Brubeck Quartet (with Paul Desmond, Eugene Wright and Joe Morello). Tonight on Classic Jazz and Swing, we'll premiere selections, including live versions of "Blue Rhondo a la Turk," and "Take Five."
