This item is a compilation of images acquired from a 12,000+ floppy collection of one of the members of the cracking group "Bamiga Sector 1". It was in an attic in Belgium for roughly 25 years and is in the process of being imaged by a small set of volunteers.
The collection is expected to grow over time and will be noted here when it is complete. The website for the project is http://www.amigaclub.be/bs1/
For easy downloading, the collection will be a set of .zip files, which can either be downloaded completely, or browsed in the links below. Note that multiple views of the same floppies will be made available, depending on which groups are doing the evaluation, and many items will have already existed in the world before now.
A volunteer group is renaming and removing viruses from these items, and they will appear below:
Information about Bamiga Sector 1, as referenced in this entry in Demozoo:
Bamiga Sector One was an Amiga cracking group, formed in Belgium in june of 1986 by Ermida and two others. The group was declared dead in early 1990. They were in several cooperations, with a.o. Cybertech, The Kent Team, Inertia and Quoram. Necromancer and The Visitor are father and son. The april 1988 crack intro for Barbarian welcomed ED 209, The Destroyer and Viral Empath to the group, and also contained a full memberlist further listing Ermida, Lord Blitter, Chatterbox, The Big Fat Lamer, Skylight, The Hobbit, The Agnostic, Ed 209, Viral Empath, Necromancer, Magnum, The Visitor, The Destroyer, Mack, Master George (-Bermuda Triangle-), Flasher 501 and Sensei as members. By the october 1988 crack intro for Nebulus, that also came with a complete memberlist, The Hobbit, Magnum, Mack, Flasher 501 and Sensei was gone from the list, and The Belgian Waffel, The Sleeper, Vincent The Kid and Mac Kie had appeared as new members since april.
An interview with Ermida in the november 1988 diskmagazine Cracker Journal 10 revealed how they were having problems getting crackers, seeing as Lord Blitter was working for a large software company, Chatterbox went to the university, Skylight was very busy with other things, The Big Fat Lamer was abroad and wouldn't be back until next year, and finally Viral Empath was busy writing protections (!) for a large software firm. Cracker Journal 11 (december 1988) reported, "The cool Outbound is now a member of BS1."
The group coorganized Bamiga Sector 1 and The Warfalcons Party 1989 in february. Cracker Journal 14 (may 1989) published a story by Avirex members about how The Band had pouched several members from their group, as well as from Bamiga Sector 1. A group swapper advert appeared in the same issue as well as in Cracker Journal 15 (july 1989), pointing to a PLK in Leverkusen, Germany.
The january 1990 diskmagazine Cracker Journal 18 featured a new interview with Ermida, in which he revealed that the group was now only 7 members - down from a top listing of 26.
