Stereo is better, because ...
Sometimes you get transient noise on one channel but not the other. I've downloaded many a song and often convert to mono. And you are correct ... it makes a huge difference. But having separate channels affords more opportunity for a better result for audiophiles who take the time to remove noise (without damaging the desired audio).

I honestly, until now, thought someone was taking the time to run each record on 4 different turntables with different styli, or they were switching out styli. One quick question, however. Why not record in mono as opposed to stereo? I'm pleased that you folks are keeping the heritage of previous generations alive, but a 78 sounds so much better in mono as opposed to being played in stereo. I've downloaded many of the songs and then re-digitized them using Polderbits 64 bit edition set in mono mode and the results are absolutely amazing! Again, no complaining at all, and I appreciate the labor of love!
