Preview of how Hunter and I plan to collaborate! Audio track is new music used with permission from Hunter Lee Brown . It is his latest piece titled "My Father Didn't Know John Adams" (John Adams, a local Berkeley "minimalist" composer has a piece called "My Father Knew Charles Ives" 8-) ) This is zooming in from the house on a friday night shoot (our view isn't quite this good with the naked eye!) It is a span of about 48 minutes compressed into 19 seconds (~150x...

Time-lapse of 17 hours on Labor Day 2012 overlooking the San Francisco bay. Our downhill neighbor decided to remove a roughly 150 foot eucalyptus (that appeared to be dying) and it bumped our view of the Bay up amazingly. It's broken into 3 segments right now: (1) Canon SLR ~4:45am-10am (~3700 images) ==> 1728x1152 60fps h.264 .mp4 (~16 Mb/s) (2) iPhone4S ~10am-2:30pm (~4400 images) ==> 1296x968 30fps h.264 .mp4 (~10 Mb/s) (3) Canon SLR ~3:15pm-9:40pm (~4400 images) ==> 1728x1152 60fps...

Time Lapse from day of 2010 Internet Archive holiday party (at 300 Funston Ave, SF). This is our relatively new and interesting downstairs workspace where we have open work "pods" as well as little niches and couch areas for discussions and collaboration. Fun notes: You can see a large clock with spinning hands in the upper right corner! This is my longest time lapse ever -- over 8 hours recorded! There is model train set in the left area on a table that you *may* be able to see...

Time-lapse recording of drive from Lafayette, CA to Internet Archive in the Presidio, San Francisco, CA. About 6500 JPEGs were shot continuously at 2.4fps using the small (but mighty!) Canon SD-300 (and a tripod). I sampled 1000 images at equal intervals and created this motion-JPEG at 10fps using Cygwin mencoder. The "Motion JPEG" file is 640x480, 10fps. This was my first time lapse attempt. [9 Sep 2003] I'm a scientist, right? So let's experiment! I took pictures with my Sony VX2000 miniDV camera while tethered to a VAIO. It created proprietary DVF images which I converted with JVC JLIP tool to JPG. Then I used mencoder to create a 6-frames/sec Motion-JPEG AVI. Not super interesting (just my old place's living room) but fun to see where my evil all started...

Little short films and such from webmistress tracey pooh. She has a moonlighting hobby with PoohBot Pictures. Tracey most enjoys making short time-lapse films and playing with video techniques & formats. Tracey prefers h.264 MPEG4 video (killer compression for high quality) while having a soft spot for motion-JPEGs (since they are so easy to construct, take apart, and repair). body.ia-module .welcome { background:black bottom center no-repeat url('/serve/poohBot/earth-peek.jpg') !important;...

For the Balinese collection, go to http://www.archive.org/details/Bali . Two week vacation to the glorious island of Bali, summer 2010. Bali is culturally fascinating -- full of very happy and cooperative people unlike any place I've seen. Here are some interesting tidbits/observances: Bali is an amazing isolated place whose people typically lives communally and is based off of the agriculture of rice. Despite being part of Islamic Indonesia, the vast majority (70%+) of the people are Hindu...
